Is it wrong to date....?

recently me and uncles stepson have gotten close.he is not related to me by blood so would it be wong to date him.my uncle and his wife are married but have no other children.and our familys dont reall visit each other so their would be no trouble with family.But my other cousins are really close with him and they call him their cousin which i wouldnt??
