As long as you heard a heartbeat the baby is fine. The dopplers are always a little weird and some appointments the baby's heartbeat sounds like a stampede going through the room and other times it is very faint. I think it depends on how old the doppler is, how much gel they used and how the baby is laying. I'm 23 weeks and my son likes to move away from the doppler as soon as the doctor pushes down. I don't have that one, but I have a pretty expensive 3MhZ one and I couldn't hear my baby's heartbeat until about 16 weeks with it and not even consistently then, it was about 18 weeks or so before I could find it everytime.....its really tricky to do it at home sometimes though, so don't let it freak you out!!! I do love mine, but if you are a major worrier I wouldn't advise trying it until at least 12 weeks that's when most doctors wait to listen also to be sure you get to hear it!!!! Why is my Turtle Tank getting dirty so fast?

I recently purchased a new 40 Gallon tank and a C-360 Marineland Canister Filter for my 8 month Mississippi Map Turtle. At the beginning there was 0 algae (which is good and bad for the my tank because i have guppies which feed off that and my yo-yo loche botia- sucker fish), this only lasted about 3 weeks before lots of algae started to form (on rocks, fake plants, and the basking docks). Im extremely surprised with my filter. After all, its the best filtration, is meant for a 100 Gallon tank, and has been recommended to me by lots of aquarium owners. I use a multi-purpose cleaner to remove all the chemicals. Before i bought my new tank, i had two 20 Gallon waterfall filters which kept my water insanely clean in the old 20 Gallon Long tank.. I positioned the new tank in front of my window so he can bask in the non-artificial sun. I think this may be my problem, I may be wrong but maybe the sun helps speed up the production of algae. whats wrong.. help!

Well being from Winnipeg and I work in a sports store I can tell you most Winnipegers are not Coyotes fans...a few people followed them at first but now there is only one remaining Jet with the team (Doan) so most of us don't care. A lot of this depends on your extracurricular activities and if you have taken any honors or AP/IB cles. It also depends on your ACT/SAT scores. Some colleges make their admissions decisions based purely on GPA and test scores, but most colleges these days pay a lot of attention to whether the applicant is active in the community or has taken on any leadership roles in student government or student clubs. Actually, colleges have found that often B students do better than A students in college because B students have learned to work for their grades while many A students have learned to just skate by using their knowledge of how to take tests. I would say chances are you will at least be considered, but I would definately recommend that you volunteer in the community and seek out leadership roles to make yourself more attractive to colleges.

How to slow down the canter?

I have a 17 year old thoroughbred and shes a pretty terrific horse, the only problem i have with her is cantering. here is how i do it, i get her into a slow trot, then i sit a few beats then slide my outside leg back and nudge her, whenever i do this she first goes into a really fast trot and then she goes into a really fast canter. when she does this i tense up immediately and i slow her back down, i know i shouldnt do this but when she goes that fast i just cant help it, i would really like to enjoy her canter but i cant if she is always doing it full speed, any help would be great, thanx in advance :)

Who else felt like this after giving birth?

When filling in the question about how I felt about my baby when I first held him, I feel bad because I didn't feel the way I thought I'd feel. I thought I'd be overcome with emotion and immediately inlove. I actually felt like I was looking at a stranger and I felt reluctant to touch and hold him because he was all bloody. I was on some stadol and the whole experience felt surreal. I didn't show these feelings, I went through the motions of what I wanted to feel and I was happy that he was born safely and was finally here. I feel bad that I felt that way. Should I not write that I felt that way in his baby books. I'm afraid I'll hurt his feelings later. Once we got home from the hospital, a couple of days later I was looking at the pics from the delivery and when I saw the one when they laid him on my belly, that's when I broke down with emotion and felt the way I thought I would. Bridal weight loss and weight management?

I bought my dress one size too small in December (last year) and 2 months later it did not fit at all (was 2 sizes too small)! So I hired a personal trainer in Feb. (wedding was in April) and basically did cardio 5 times a week for at at least an hour and trained with the trainer 3 times a week and lived off basically chicken, green veggies, brown rice, (tuna if you like it, I don't...so I used canned chicken), muscle milk light, low fat cottage cheese, basically high protein, low fat, low carb. And by my fitting 8 weeks later I had lost the 2 dress sizes I needed to.

Pet rats have red mites!?

Rehomed two male rats who unbeknownst to us have red mites. I'm now wondering if this was one of the reasons the individual wished to rehome them in general. Previous owners kept in very unkempt cage so perhaps this was the culprit. Who knows. All I know is I want to be rid of the mites and feel so bad for these rats. They are the sweetest rats ever! I've since put said ratties in a new "rat mansion" and it is now I've discovered their ailment. One rat in particular has red patches starting now on his back with tiny bits of fur missing. The brown rat, his brother, is not so bad, but you can see the brown/reddish coloring throughout his fur/skin when you brush through it. Besides the obvious, cleaning out their cage, etc., has anyone ever used that ivermectin paste (very small amount) to cure mites in pet rats? What about any topical solutions? Specific wash/shampoos? Our local feed store recommended a tea tree shampoo with Neem oil but I'm not sure. Petsmart suggested a mite/lice topical spray for birds to use. Thus far, I've not done anything as I'm considering checking with my vet tomorrow. Any suggestions? Will the mites return? How did they get them in the first place? Please help.

I had a physical exam about 6 years ago that included 3 stool samples. ysis indicated blood in all 3 samples though not visible to the naked eye. Best exposure for taking photos of planets?

I want to take pictures of the planets Venus, Mars, and Saturn alignment. I have a decent point and shoot digital camera. There is a setting where you can manually set the shutter speed and aperture. I'm not really sure what setting it should be on. The instructions say the shutter speed can go from 30 to 1/2,000 seconds and the aperture from F3.5 to or F8.0 with the zoom set to the w side. And F4.4 or F10 with the zoom set to the T side. If you have experience with this, help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Sweet 16 party planning help or ideas?

Im planning for a sweet 16 next year in April. I live in the Monmouth county, New Jersey Area. I was wondering if anyone knew of any good themes and decorations. I once called the Barbie hotline and asked them how to get the dolls hair back to its natural shine and they told me to use liquid fabric softener. Try some flea markets for the clothing. There is one here where they have lots of boxes of doll clothes. I once cleaned a dolls face with liquid bathtub cleaner with bleach. Maybe try it on the back of the neck and see if it works first. Be sure to wash it all off after you use it. The flea markets may have an old Kathy doll that may contain a voice box that works. I am an introvert. I have always been shy and quiet basically. i am friendly, smilley, probably too much so actually. Our apartment lease contract expires this coming Dec. 31st but my husband & I will move-out on Nov. 24, 2008 and he already talked to the apt. manager about it and she said we just have to give 30 days notice but since my husband's daughter/husband & son sharing with him for paying the apt. and he was been helping for long years (they can't afford of their own) making an issue against me and called me an evil stepmother even the fact i did not do anything wrong to them since i got here in America January this year and for being married for 4years now. Since my husband will stay pay half of the rent for Dec. even if we already moved-out, I heard my hypocrite step-daughter that seems they have plans against us for whatever reason. I heard her talking her friends & mother on the phone claiming what's theirs that we threw nor keep even the fact it's all my husband's and said about fire marshall that will be checking our room. We never make nor do in this apartment even once so i just want to make sure what's the best thing to do to block her/them from doing things against us so we can leave this apartment this coming Nov. 24 without any issues to be left. I'm 27 years old with nothing?

I'll spare you all the details....basically, I was a bit of a slacker in highschool.....then once I graduated....I put a bunch of pressure on myself to do great things.....my first semester right after 9/11 I got almost straight As....had a job....a car.....life was never better.....but after that it was a tailspin that I never recovered from....flunked out of university.....only got an liberal arts ociate's degree.....got busted a few times.....for weed, tresping, 2 DUIs, felony joyriding.......lost my car.....cant find a job..........had to move with my parents down to Florida from NJ which I hate......dont know anyone.......live in the middle of nowhere.......can't stand the heat.....the economy is brutal but where I live I dont think it makes that much of a difference anyway....there is nothing here....I've been here for 4 years.....lost all contact for the most part with everyone I know.....and I'm just stranded and miserable....plus my parent's health is deteriorating.....what do I do? Sunday was my birthday....I spent it sleeping as much as possible just to get through it as quickly as possible. Next tme you think your life sucks....remember this......and I know I sound like a whiny, crybaby....but there is nothing to be positve or hopeful about.....sadly thats just the way it is....I messed up....and there was no room for error in my life.

Why was this lizard and garter snake following me and why were they seeking one anothers company?

For some odd reason and this may sound even a bit strange but why was this garter snake and lizard following me? and I still don't understand what is a lizard and a garter snake doing together? It's like their seeking each other for companionship but here's the story: So i'm walking outside to go and take out the trash and what not as I usually always do and i've came across this garter snake and this lizard which are pretty common here in california and there's a lot of them in my apartment complex but anyway these animals were just seeking each other and these were "wild" animals that live in the wild of civilization, the people who live around are use to the animals but can't remember the name of the species of lizard they're pretty small and grayish, me and my cousins would always catch them in our backyard and feed them to our bearded dragon named "KeKe" when we were little and they still have her to this day and she is very healthy and happy but as I was walking towards the trash can or dumpster that's in our parking lot i've heard a little noise behind me and it was really quiet but I threw the trash away turned around and guess what? yup the snake and lizard were right behind me and i'm not making this up either, they were just staring at me and not in a threatening way and i've tried to not appear as a threat to them and at first after i've turned around and saw them I had turned my head up and tried not to make eye contact with them so they won't feel threaten and kept on walking but they was catching up to me real fast and i've tried to get them away from me and not in my house and believe me I was stuck outside for awhile lol trying to get them away but then i've picked them up and moved them to a further area but not far enough from their territory and ran as fast as I could but they were so fast that they kept catching up to me after every attempt to get them away these animals were very smart but then i've had my sister get a little piece of meat and i've found some insects to give to them to distract them so I could run back in the house but it was not working at all but then finally they took their eyes off of me for a second then I snuck as fast as I can back into my house and made it and then I was looking out my window to come found out that the lizard and garter snake was still there just staring out the door but then i've found this little empty 20 gallon aquarium in my closet and went back out to get them and set them inside and they gave me no problem what so ever, i'm going to release them back soon but for now they'll just stay in the aquarium with the proper lighting/heat source for them to stay warm and a cool side to stay cool and I have a huge water dish for them to drink out of and newspaper as substrate and i've even set them next to my bed so they could see me and I could see them since they were for some reason seeking my company which I still don't understand? but they still seem to be happy and healthy since i've captured them but could somebody please explain to me what was a garter snake and a lizard doing together seeking company? and why were they following me? i'm going to try and post a picture of them and get a video up soon on them before I release them and show you this shocking unusual reptile behavior and i'm going to post it up on youtube so stay tune and my youtube channel is a href="http://www.youtube.com/user/emoneyo2" rel="nofollow"http://www.youtube.com/user/emoneyo2/a but sorry this question was so long but please read it, this is one of my interesting and unusual questions i've ever posted in the reptile/zoology section but could somebody explain this unusual behavior among these two animals that goes against their instincts.
